Mystery Hardcover Pre-1960

I am looking for an old hardcover mystery grayish cloth coverd hardcover with the small image of a gold dove on upper half of cover. I have forgotten the title and author. I last read this in 1960. The only other facts are that it ended in a cemetary where two people awaited the coming of the murderer at night. I seem also to remember that it might have taken place in the northeast and that it was a women author. I am 79 years of age and I have been searching for this book for many many years. I have checked out most of the major authors of that time period but have had no luck. Thanks ever so much for your help.
